Welcome, welcome!
You've stumbled across the journal of a slightly crazy missionary. I'm currently living in Tokyo, where I have been since September 13th, 2006. My first six months here were Japanese language and cultural training. Now I am an English teacher at Hongo Lutheran Church in Tokyo, where I also teach about Christianity and lead English Bible Studies. I worship in Japanese every Sunday. Sometimes I don't know why the Japanese people would even remotely appreciate having someone as clueless as me worshiping with them, but other times the language barrier breaks down and beautiful things happen.
I am extremely passionate about prayer of about every type. Prayer is the ministry that makes all my other ministries possible. It is my life blood...the source of my peace and joy and the foundation of my relationship with God. I love praying my myself and I love praying with other people. I have found that praying with other people does something...there is something about coming together before God as equals that knits people together on a deep level. And the prayers of the Body of Christ are powerful. They are the extension of Christ's hand to break chains of addiction, depression, and fear among many other things. Prayer changes the world.
I also have a creative side. If I don't use it often enough it tends to explode out and I tell people things like that I am the heir to the throne of Saturn or I ask them how their secret missions are going. If people actually play along with something like that it makes me really, really happy. And then they must be careful, because they will have unlocked my secret goofy side. ;)
Anyway, if I haven't met you before, I'm pleased to "meet" you! Please come and introduce yourself if you think you might be here often.
